    KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

    The engineer will be a module leader who will provide technical direction for all analyses performed on static structural components and systems for an exciting new gas turbine engine development program. Responsibilities include guiding the analysis, design, development, and test planning for static structural components to meet requirements for life, cost, weight, maintainability, and durability. The module leader will direct trade studies to inform engine architecture decisions.

    · Compressor: includes structural design of engine cases, flow path components, and a variable vane actuation system

    · Combustor & Turbine: includes engine cases, nozzles, seals, heat shields, and transition of advanced technology component concepts to production readiness

    · Bypass Ducts, Exhaust, & Externals: includes inner and outer bypass ducts, plumbing, and brackets.

    The module leader must be adept at overseeing strength, vibration, fatigue, containment, heat transfer, deflection, and clearance analyses. In addition, the module leader will be responsible for ensuring that analysis results are presented clearly and effectively in design reviews and documented in reports to meet program deliverables and requirements. The lead engineer must have experience performing complex Finite Element Analyses (i.e., contact, preloaded fasteners, modal and forced vibration) to provide the necessary problem-solving guidance to the team. They may also at times be called upon to perform some analyses of key components themselves.

    The applicant must be an effective leader able to thrive in an Agile environment and successfully coordinate the work of local and global analysis teams, create statements of work, review analysis output, and communicate effectively with manufacturing personnel, suppliers, customers, and chief engineers.

    Driving process transformation to reduce design cost and cycle time is an important aspect of the position.

    Be responsible for providing technical expertise as a program team leader in the identification and development of new products. You will lead the design effort and be technically responsible for the project. You will provide reports to internal and customer senior stakeholders.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Act as Technical Lead for the mechanical design of electric motors, generators, and gearboxes

    U.S. CITIZEN REQUIREMENTS

    YOU MUST HAVE

    + Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics

    + 15+ years of mechanical design engineering experience

    + 10+ years of experience in mechanical design with NX design tool including modeling and drafting

    + Prior experience as a systems design lead

    + Must be a US Citizen due to ITAR restrictions

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

    + Experience in high-speed rotating equipment design including electric motors, generators, turbomachinery, gear trains, and mechanical systems.

    + Proven application of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

    Honeywell is implementing advanced gas turbine system technologies in a number of our aircraft propulsion products and auxiliary power units. Dramatic improvements to the fidelity of simulations used in the design processes of gas turbines are essential to shorten development cycles while meeting customer requirements on these projects. You will be responsible for leading activities within the Fan and Compressor Design Systems methods group to drive continued development of predictive tools to assess mechanical behavior. As part of that effort you will also be responsible for developing software tools to automate custom workflows. You will also be expected to provide guidance to fan and compressor design teams on the use of best practices for general mechanical modeling and measurements and will develop new processes in these areas. You will help lead root cause investigations of mechanical failures to enable rapid resolution.

    Key Responsibilities

    •Develop and improve modeling methods and best practices for static, modal and forced response analyses in turbomachinery.

    •Integrate static, modal, thermal and forced response analyses best practices into Honeywell design workflows with emphasis on accuracy and cycle time reduction

    •Develop software utilities to automate analysis workflows. Also, work with software developer teams to define and guide the development of software utilities.

    •Guide design teams on use of best practices for mechanical modeling and measurements (linear and non-linear stress analysis, modal analysis, high-cycle fatigue)

    •Provide leadership of root cause investigations into mechanical failures in fans and compressors and the selection of appropriate design or fabrication changes
