**Responsibilities**
Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in the Department of Urology on the Phoenix campus work within care teams comprised of both physicians and NP/PAs working collaboratively. In a care team model, NP/PAs are partnered with individual physicians to support patient care needs of the team. In addition to supporting team based care, the NP/PA also maintains their own clinic with individual patients. Together, the teams provide care for a wide range of patients across subspecialties including genitourinary oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive urology, medical urology, endourology, and men’s health and infertility.
The NP/PA role in Urology requires outpatient clinic only. There are no call or hospital rounding activities or assignments. NP/PA staff are in clinic daily with no weekend responsibilities. Within the clinical setting, NP/PAs provide evaluations and consults with indirect supervision and may be involved in outpatient procedures. Additionally, the NP/PA team interacts and partners with resident and fellow staff, and is actively engaged in educational activities with rotating NP/PA students and the department's developing Urology NP/PA Fellowship Program.
**Qualifications**
**Urology experience is highly preferred.**

Requirements
+ An active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in the residing state
+ Minimum of 1 year experience as PA-C

**Responsibilities**
**_The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant supporting the nephrology transplant team will care for patients post-op kidney or pancreas transplant, both clinic and hospital._** Clinic involves management of waitlisted kidney and/or pancreas transplant patients, and postoperative care for kidney and/or pancreas transplant recipients. The NP or PA will provide consult service and round with physicians and fellows in the hospital setting. This role will also triage calls from patients calling in from home on an overnight and weekend rotation.
The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: obtaining patient history, comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments, and non-pharmacological therapies. This position reports to the Director of Didactic Education and will teach, evaluate, and counsel students, and provide departmental administrative support.
