    Position Overview

    + Positioning themselves on the concrete forms and moving the pump hose or concrete bucket into place for the pouring of the concrete.

    + Levelling the top surface of freshly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings or sidewalks. Responsible for finishing the concrete surface to meet the tolerances for thickness and flatness before the concrete has cured. Initially, the concrete finisher must strike the concrete with a screed to create a level, smooth surface.

    + Applying a bull float to the concrete to further smooth the surface and bring the moisture to the top of the concrete area. The float is operated by a concrete finisher applying pressure to the float as it is moved back and forth over the concrete.

    + Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete. This includes waterproofing, damp-proofing, and restoring concrete surfaces.

    + Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.

    + Operating a trowel to finish the surface when the concrete has reached a semi-cured status. Moving the machine over the concrete surface to level the concrete and develop the desired finish. Following up with the finish trowel using the steel trowel. Often, after the mechanical trowel has been used, the final troweling is performed by the concrete finisher using a 14-inch steel trowel.

    + Perform daily equipment safety and pre check inspections, care for equipment, including always checking fluid levels before starting.

    + Have a strong knowledge of grades, grade steaks and grade checking.

    + Have the Ability to comfortably and safely climb up to and down from the equipment with 3 points of contact.

    + Be able to endure bouncing over rough terrain in equipment without shock absorbing capabilities.

    + Have a through awareness of equipment/machine capabilities.

    + Be able to work on a pipe crew and work as a laborer when necessary.

    + Work as a team player with an excellent attitude.

    + Interpret information on grade stakes. Clears, grubs, strips, excavates, backfills, ditches, stockpiles and pushes scraper with dozer.

    + Understand the cut and fill process with scrapers or other equipment.

    + Load trucks, scarifies material, excavates V ditches and can finish grade projects for asphalt, curb/gutter.

    + Possess basic math skills for measuring yards, tons and stockpiles.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion.

    + Load and unload equipment and materials.

    + Provide innovative solutions to improve efficiency

    + Conduct occasional routine preventive maintenance.

    + Log, record or report critical readings or issues with equipment​.

    Hunter Contracting, specializing in civil infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Mainline Excavator Operatorresponsible for operating various types of construction equipment to

    Responsible for:


    * Working to precise standards to excavate line and grade for Mainline Waterline.
    * Excavates around existing utilities, to install Mainline and backfill piping.
    * Must have knowledge of pothole procedure, pipeline and grade compaction requirements.
    * Inspecting equipment for deficiencies, such as tires, lights, brakes, fuses and fluid levels, and submits report indicating equipment condition.
    * Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade
