    Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

    **Description**

    Employee who under direct supervision performs duties related to the safe operation of a site-operated power plant.

    + May assist with or perform shift inspections of the following: gas turbines, boilers, rectifiers, air compressors, deep wells, reverse osmosis units, and electrical generators

    + May assist with or perform boiler feed water chemistry analysis

    + Assist with monitoring all equipment operating parameters during shift

    + May assist with or perform water chemistry analysis on plant feed water and take appropriate action

    + May perform minor maintenance activities

    + May operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and light-duty vehicles

    + May be responsible for maintaining records associated with air, water, and waste regulations

    + Perform housekeeping duties

    + Perform other duties as required

    **Qualifications**

    **Minimum Qualifications**

    + Three (3) months of experience in an industrial environment

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

    We are currently seeking talented individuals for the position of **General Plant Operator I** at our power plant facility located in Springerville, AZ. The Springerville Generating Station operates four coal-fired units with a combined generating capacity of over 1600 megawatts of power. Although we will be retiring two of the units we operate and maintain at this facility by 2032, we continue to work together to generate safe, clean, reliable power to enhance our families, customers and communities.

    The Water Treatment Plant Operator reports to the Water Treatment Plant Utility Supervisor.     Who we are
    Chandler was the first city in Arizona to receive accreditation of our water and wastewater operations by the American Public Works Association, the toughest accreditation to achieve in the industry. The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, 32 water wells, and 19 booster station facilities and share another water plant with the Town of Gilbert. The Utility also operates wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure, including industrial wastewater/ brine reduction and three wastewater facilities. We treat over 64 million gallons of fresh water and treat over 30 million gallons of wastewater per day to class A+ reclaimed water to meet irrigation and industrial demands. Our water is received from four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and ground water supplied by our extensive well field facilities. We also use advanced treatment processes to recycle over 7 million gallons of industrial wastewater and return it back for industrial reuse. Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains.

    **Job Title:** -- Plant Operator

    **Job Summary:** -- In a safe, efficient and professional manner the Operator will support the Plant Manager in the preventative, corrective, and general maintenance of HVAC systems for Macerich. Other duties include, but not limited to, daily assessments of systems, maintain a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Plant Manager, while adhering to all safety and health standards.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** -

    + Log chillers and perform water treatment tests on a daily basis. Must understand the results and make adjustments accordingly.

    + Keep central plant and HVAC department areas clean and in safe condition at all times.

    + Maintain cleanliness and keep biological activity under control in cooling towers.

    + Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.

    + Test and log emergency generators. Perform minor maintenance when necessary (i.e. add water to batteries and radiator, add oil and fuel to unit. Keep unit wiped clean).

    + Perform other various duties as assigned by supervisor.

    + Safely use hand tools, power tools and test instruments to maintain, troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment.

    + Follow safety practices, and utilize protective clothing and equipment as required by OSHA. Know the whereabouts of all emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, eyewash and shower stations, first aid supplies, breathing apparatus, etc.

    + Must understand the basics of central plant operation including the fundamentals of: chillers, water pumps, piping and valve operation, cooling towers, air handlers, exhaust equipment and the smoke evacuation system.

    + Able to operate the energy management system.

    + Able to read electric and water meters.

    + Able to read and understand blue prints.

    **Qualifications**

    + High school diploma or equivalent; diploma from a certified air conditioning school or college.

    + At least two years' experience in commercial air conditioning including: chillers, water pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, package units, split systems, exhaust fans and heat pumps.

    + EPA Universal Certification

    + Valid driver's license

    + Able to produce a quality work product in a prompt, safe and efficient manner.

    + Observe and adhere to safety and health rules.

    + Good communication with and respect for co-workers and their property, vendors, and tenants.

    + Maintain a good attendance record, including notification in the event of tardiness and absence.
