Behavioral Health Technician Nights

Buena Vista Health and Recovery Centers is a growing, state of the art healthcare recovery center with multiple locations. We are currently seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for Full Time Weekend Shifts to join our team of passionate healthcare professionals.

This position helps doctors and nurses with the treatment of patients who have various behavioral problems, such as substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, mental instability and physical and emotional abuse.

Duties and Responsibilities

Observe patients, listen to their concerns, record their observations and report to mental health professionals about any unusual behavior
Check vital signs such as temperature and heart rate
Give medication under the direction of medical staff
Assist with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and grooming
Monitor patient's mood or behavior changes and assess whether it is positive, negative or potentially dangerous, then take steps to modify the patient's actions or alert the appropriate medical professionals
Maintain safety for themselves and their charges by performing duties as simple as keeping patient files confidential and secure from unauthorized access to more complex duties like restraining violent patients
Ability to emotionally support patients, remain calm and professional, and use good interpersonal skills to defuse volatile situations
Understand and implement individual treatment plans, record patient behavior and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients
Provide direct support as needed to the Medical and Clinical staff for patients in the facility or on supervised trips
Shifts: 7AM-7:30PM
We offer a $2 Shift Differential for Saturday and Sunday

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Must be 21 years of age or older
Level one fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain one upon 60 days of hire.
2+ years of experience in face-to-face client based interaction work
A passion for working in behavioral health and directly with the substance abuse population
A heightened sensitivity and compassion when working with our clients
Ability to provide judgment-free care to all
Ability to practice good judgment and effective problem solving skills
Effective communicator and strong team player
Ability to maintain a positive and professional disposition
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in behavioral health
Associate's Degree in Psychology, Nursing, Behavioral Health, or related subjects
CPR, CPI, Fingerprint Clearance Card
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
In a 12-hour work day: standing/walking up to 12 hours per day
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
You must have the ability to use tools and equipment required for the position
Mental Focus: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
