Provide surveying expertise, project management, and support to the Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) Rail Project to mentor and develop a survey team responsible for field surveying, through good communication and coordination with internal resources, in the field for all GBC Rail surveying to ensure the national surveying teams are following international and industrial surveying standards during the construction and installation of the GBC Rail Project. Adopt and develop new technologies and methods and report strategic concerns about surveying to management to make the surveying team more accurate, efficient, and effective. The Technical Expert role requires not only technical expertise, but also the ability to transfer knowledge to others within the organization in a multicultural environment. This position involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Indonesian and Papuan culture, as well as building relationships, solving problems creatively as a team, and effectively communicating in different styles. The Technical Expert must also have a continuous learning mindset, be patient, adaptable, and able to work in an environment where work and personal life mix. Additionally, a strong sense of collaboration, mentoring, coaching, questioning, and influencing skills are essential for success in this role.
**_Additional Responsibilities:_**
1. Provide Leadership to the GBC Rail Construction Survey Team to check and monitor development headings, infrastructure, and rail construction as to ensure that design is followed, and appropriate survey control is provided.
2. Provide coordination and develop an effective, consistent, and clear communication with inter-departments such as construction, development, and rail installation regarding the QAQC and surveying activities to achieve departments targets in a timely manner.
3. Together with internal resources support the success of the worksheet tracking system which will require coordination between engineering and operating groups and to monitor, compare, and check designs versus field conditions before issuing surveying control to ensure its compliance and accuracy.
4. Coordinate with internal resources to develop a more efficient and effective QAQC and surveying worksheet database and document through an online GIS system or equivalent type of system to ensure the worksheets can be prepared quickly and accurately and be easily accessible to all users and all historical information is archived and readily accessible for future references by all departments.
5. Coordinate with internal resources to monitor, review, and track all development advances and rail installations accurately on a weekly and monthly basis and report results periodically through online system, to identify anomaly, variance, and non-compliance so that all targets can be achieved between the timelines.
6. Provide deep and broad technical instructional support to national staffs & non staffs for all relevant activities at GBC Rail Survey group based on the team's weaknesses and strengths as guidance to enhance and improve their skills, knowledge, and capabilities to the required level in performing their jobs skills also to ensure all works are comply with international standard, completed in safe manner, within budget, and on schedule.
7. Coordinate with internal resources to perform necessary administrative tasks related to capital projects including quality control on construction jobs, "punch lists" and commissioning documents, and prepare reports for superiors for review to ensure all progress are documented and reported.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree with at least ten (10) years of experience at large scale, complex mine underground environment and at least two (2) years supervisory experience with project management or technical mining operations.
+ Sound mining and underground experience.
+ Strong surveying experience
+ Capability to produce AFE, ESR, and reports.
+ Be technically sound in area of expertise and have desire and ability to transfer that knowledge to Indonesian nationals.
+ Support and assist in the advancement of the assigned counterpart as well as other national employees, potentially including creating and managing developmental plans.
+ Build a basic Indonesian language competency including knowing basic greetings, questions, and work-related terms.
+ Adept at communicating using different styles according to the culture and context.
+ Ability to check for understanding for oneself and for the other individual by using questioning skills within the context of transferring knowledge and skills.
+ Establish trust and respect through the building of relationships over time.
